Washington Irving.... When WAS he born?

Note, this is only according to about half a dozen short biographies which I found in the last two minutes on the web, so it might not be correct.

I've read almost every biography I can get my hands on.... and not a SINGLE ONE OF THEM HAS SAID WHEN HE WAS BORN!
