Though I am usually a very fast reader, I found the Portrait of a Lady to take me quite awhile to finish. Aside from the fact that it is written very intelligently, I find that it is a 55 chapter book that could have easily been reduced to 22 chapters. Being descriptive is a quality in writers, but when you draw it out that you are taking an entire ten pages to emphasize one feeling, I say to the author, have a little more respect for you reader! <br>However, if you wish to be challenged as far as verbage use and all that, the Portrait of a Lady is your book.
