I was given this book as a project for a ten-page essay paper and when I read the book I found it rather boring. Not only is this book completely predictable, but Forster never really developed his characters well enough to make his book interesting. Lucy is supposed to be this young woman who transcends her Edwardian society by acting unconventionally - that is, refusing the "proper suitor" to marry the guy she loves. However, as soon as you open the book, you become immediately bored by pointless and excessive information that completely ruins the story. So, in my opinion, had Forster stayed onto his topic instead of taking it on the whole journey of Lucy's confusion, the story would have been a heck of a lot better and no one would have been bored to tears.
