I adore this book! Having also read Forster's 'A Passage to India' and 'Where Angels Fear to Tread' I believe that this is the best of the set because his views on society are delicatley laced into the witty and charming narrative without being too heavy-handed. Being a self-confessed Anglo-phile I preferred the section written in England, for it captures so perfectly the English country life at Windy Corner, with its Sunday church, afternoon tea and lawn tennis. I also believe that Miss Bartlett is a literarly triumph in the extreme, her glorious satirisation made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion and afforded me no shortage of weird looks.
