The use of instant gratification trough sex and drugs is rampant throughout the novel. Compared to the attitude of today's world, the world in Brave New World is close to opposite. The world government encourages everyone to be premiscuous whereas governments in reality encourage monogamy. I believe that the idea of having no limits on how many sex partners is not the best idea for the world. I believe this because having monogomous relationships encourages many values that are good for a society to follow, such as loyalty, and trust. Soma, the drug in BNW, takes away all emotions except for happiness and pleasure. When we discussed the idea of having a world of only pleasure it occurred to me that we really would't know pleasure if it wasn't for pain and suffering every once in a while. Although the world government in BNW feels strongly and supports the use of premiscuity and drugs, I believe that it may lead to the downfall of society in BNW.
