Rilla of Ingleside is one of my favorite LM Montgomery books, though I hardly connect it with the Anne books (since Anne and Gilbert have been reduced to Mr. & Mrs. Blythe). But Rilla can be loved in and of itself. It's a great coming-of-age story and a good look at life during the Great War. By the end of the book, Rilla becomes a wonderful, funny woman - and you'll love watching her get there!
