This book had many interesting twists to it. It looked like a child's book at first. [I did not read the online chapters -- my version of the book was adapted by Howard J. Schwach, part of the Great Illustrated Classics series published by Baronet Books, NY.] Judging by the text, it seemed to be on a 9th-grade level. It grasped my attention with its fascinating turns. I enjoyed that it wasn't predictable and would recommend the book to others.

I was thinking of sending it to my grandson who is just entering fourth grade. I did not do so because of all the 19th Century scientific allusions. I do think, however, that he should be able to get through it by 6th or 7th grade.
