This book fast became almost my Bible when I first read it when I was eleven. My last copy of it fell apart from over-reading. It is such a beautiful, bleak, melancholic and decadent piece of literature, and it would do the human race an awful lot of good if they read it. Because Mr. Wilde knew what he was talking about, and "art for art's sake" is a far more noticeable and prominent part of life that you realise.

It's just one of *those* books.
