Personally, I felt that Hound of the Baskervilles was a slightly immature work on the part of Doyle. His decision to switch perspectives in the middle of the novel was confusing and not too helpful, since he could have established tension without losing the reader for a chapter or two. Also, his characters seem a bit one dimensional now and then. The plot in Hound of the Baskervilles was outstanding, and probably is one of the best storylines in English literature, but I believe that Doyle's delivery was lacking. That is just my own personal opinion, though.
