Boredom and the Novel

Although the novel in the broad scope of literature is usually in itself not considered specifically devoted to stimulating the reader, in other words, it is not used as a method of entertainment, the purpose and direction of the verbage, sentence structure and narrative choice is - empiracally - dictated by the author's need to encapsulate the attention of the reading audience. Therefore, a novel which is inclined to induce boredom, or, more extremely, intense dormancy, does not fulfill the usual obligations of the fiction writing populace.
