Something real. About your life.

Me:

Sometimes when I go to untie my shoelaces the lace will somehow-I don't know how- SOMEHOW it will do a trick and become even more entangled. Then I have to pull the shoe off and get at the lace with my fingernails and teeth! The lace is defying logic!

Mundane?

Up until recently I had to put on my left shoe first... it's still a battle of wills, but there you go.

Mundane ?

That's so mundane it's gripping. Leftie eh? Are you left handed?

Right handed... a bit of carpel tunnel that used to r-e-a-l-l-y flair up in my latter-days of bowling, but doesn't seem to be a bother too much in everyday browsing and poetry writing :)

Funny how we both see shoes as mundane. I suppose that's conceptual art for you. Take a urinal, put it on display....it becomes something more. Poetry eh? I used to strangle that muse. Got any to read?

That's some good stuff, scholar. Touching. Professional. Ever been published? I had a couple published years ago. You can't trust that kind of thing. I think I could post some stuff up next time I'm here. I don't really write anymore. I used to 'partake' shall we say? And let my mind go in weird places. Now I write quasi-mythological reflections on true crime and spirituality. It's hard to describe. :)

Not quite real not quite fiction. Gonzo conspiracy would cover it.

I really should get into straight poetry and prose though. Ever write prose? I had some short stories published. One was in the honourable mention section of The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 19. An agency wanted to read some of my stuff too. Got an offer to be published but I lost my nerve. I don't mind being in an anthology but only my name on the cover? Chickened out.

I've dabbled in all art forms over the years. That's what life's about.

Thanx. Published - only a few odd poems in a local paper that serves our small rural community. Our poetry group, Thursdays at Two, was going to have an anthology published of our poetry created within the group, but the idea was dropped unfortunately. I've used prose in the sense that I might start there and then distil the idea quite a bit... although some of my poetry is prosey to the extent that I was satisfied with the result, albeit always under scrutiny.

Weird places is quite in vogue in modern poetry :)

I dug around my hard drive and found this...pretty odd.

Caveat lector.

Death Like You

I hunted love like I was hunting a serial killer
And when I found it amongst the bright litter in an alleyway
I killed it
At the inquiry truth was dealt out amongst the investigators
Sheaves of yellow paper flapping like injured birds
I pleaded not guilty
For love had taken lives in seven counties
Leaving scores of hurt family members
The pattern was always the same
Man meets woman
Woman meets man
Man meets man
Woman meets woman
Love did not care
It needed chemistry
Reagents and catalysts
Black powder and white
And love provided the flame
It killed with heat and melted the substances together
Then when souls were singed and inseparable
It took away the fire

Kim Kattrall

To see the lie you must be denied the lie
Then, with rage, you tear it apart and find no heart within
If you are unhappy then you are telling the lie
If you are miserable then you are believing the lie
If you are suicidal then you are not living up to the lie
If you are doomed then you see the lie for what it is
I do not know what exists beyond the lie
for I have not lived long enough for the truth to notice me
If I have to tell you what the lie is
then you should stay ignorant
and believe in the lie when it comes to your bedside at night
or, more likely, from some magazine or TV show

Not to push you but I posted a bilious post on British TV...tee hee. I think it's in the right place...

This thread is not mundane enough. I have to travel five miles to buy a webcam and a kindle.

Lol... my long post was destroyed when I sought out how to spell drivel... first time that's happen in a long while. So anyway, your drivel and our drivel are similar. (Control C)

Some shows in the past imported to the states that I enjoyed: Fawlty Towers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, (Control C) To the manner Born, Good Neighbors, I Claudius (starring Derick Jacobi), (Control C), and one show where a saleslady was constantly having problems with her (cat). (Control C)

I mainly watch reruns of reruns... of the Sci Fi genre.

To get back to the mundane. I have tooth ache. Probably from eating too many oranges. I can eat six oranges a day. The acid destroys your teeth.

Oranges: I believe that to be true. My cat's tail is restless as he lounges between keyboard and monitor, nonplussed at my mundanity.

Cats are aliens. Dogs are from heaven. Fish are from our dreams.

My tongue hurts! Got a broken tooth and it jabs my tongue!

Cats... lol :)

Tooth... me too. A filling fell out while eating popcorn recently and I keep probing with my tongue over the jagged bits... also need two replacement teeth (molars)... maybe next year.

Be well.

Same with me. Popcorn. Then I had a root canal and filling and then I bit some french bread and snap. filling falls out! Jagged jaws!

Teeth are the worst. I stay away from hard food now. I live off sandwiches and mini pizza.

I'm still at it with popcorn... lost one molar with saltwater taffy and another with something else chewy-gooey. Endured with peroxide until the pain was able to subside (highly do not recommend); did not have dental insurance at the time. I may have some kind of coverage now, but I hate dental visits.

Rather than cut my fingernails (or bite/chew them) I use a coarse nail file.

I have a throw rug in my bathroom with 10 panels that drives me nuts because it has 3-repeating different colors and the 10th is the first color of the repeating colors... the asymmetry is unnerving.
