He moaned a little, now and then,
about the blinds, the light,
the hours laid end to end.
It drew the usual silence.

Advice came brisk: keep quiet,
Quiet men last longer,
complaints don’t travel well.
He learned the lesson.

Until the chair was empty.
One Monday, gone.
No message, no trail—
just the relief of absence.

The talk went thin:
he’d had enough,
or not enough—
no one could decide.

The clock resumed
its small rehearsals
of eternity.

Poignant poem of one just "going away" to placate those insensitives who were on watch... perhaps the antithesis of Dylan Thomas' poem Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night... https://allpoetry.com/do-not-go-gentle-into-that-good-night Enjoyed :)

Enjoyed this. Very professional. Flows well too. Musical. Nice choice of words. The last lines are are the pay off. Sublime.
