i agree! siddhartha is a great book. I also had to read it in my english class. however, i enjoyed the book from the moment I picked it up. it was full of so many enlightening things that I couldn't help not want to take it home. siddhartha is a great book but in order to fully comprehend everything you must understand the symbolism. once you do, everything else will fall into place.

i just finished reading this for English 9 (actually, i have 20 pages left), and I have to say that at first, Siddhartha seemed like an extremely boring book that went nowhere. After thinking about the book and its meaning some more and reading it during my free time instead of in school, i began to truly comprehend the novel. Once I was able to "get into the book", I found that it was extremely easy to relate to Siddhartha and the inward journey he was on. I myself have had a very difficult time concerning religions, so this book really hit home. It is an incredible novel, and I think that it has the power to let one explain many things to oneself that before were unknown and misunderstood. I am about to write a paper for my English class regarding Siddhartha's inward journey, as soon as I read those twenty pages. I would advise everyone to read this novel with an open mind and if they should become bored with it, as I did, to keep on reading, or perhaps start over, and finish the book no matter what. It really is worth it; you can learn a lot about yourself from Siddhartha.
