Conrad did not try to bridge the gap between the two cultures. He only higlighted the differences between them. He depicted Europeans as civilized and Africans as animals.

An amazing adventure in a kind of "no man land".Conrad is one of the few to understand the "mistery" hidden in the Congo equatorial forest. Further more he does all his best to bridge the gap between the Congolese man and the European "visitor", therefore two cultures. A bright analyst who however remains passive in some decision-making cases. His book is really a "heart of history darkness"! Rome, 16 may 2003
