This book can be understood in several ways, and it is our duty to find all the meanings possible. At first, the book seems to be confusing-excellent beginning! Why do books have to be simple and easy to grasp???It is much more interesting for readers when they have to use their brain as much as possible,to find some inner messages in the book.<br>Heart of darkness depicts human soul-actually the dark part of it.We all possess it,it is innate.People are always influenced by their dark side of their concsiousness, even though they always try to avoid it.That is why many of them become mean,greedy,dangerous...That side of human concience is forbidding, unpleasant but on the other side it is attractive, interesting. That is why Conrad chose this topic-it seemed unusual and misterious enough to be used for creating a novel, such as this.
