I feel I understand life well and great lit as well! I am a fan of lit too. I was left confused at this "novel". I think Golding's "Lord of the Flies" is a much better look at the depth and depravity of the inner psyche/heart. This novel left me with nothing but sore eyes. The movie "Apocalypse Now" was merely a thread based on "Heart of Darkness" and I know why,, Coppola did a much better job at depicted the inner dark self!!!!!!

Odd that you should say that about "Lord of the Flies", because "Lord of the Flies" is based on "Heart of Darkness"

No it's not. Lord of the Flies is partly based on Ballantyne's "Coral Island" (so much so, that some of the character's share the same names) but is mostly original.

Understand this: Like life, not everything fits into a nice, neat, tidy litlle package. Understand this, and you understand the story. For those people who don't like the disorder or the confusion, there is a place for you. It is called the suburbs!
