<br> While Sinclair recieved much criticism for his lack of knowledge and stereotism on Lithuanian culture, I found that the characters had instead a strong effect that served one aspect of the book- that is the idea that as citizens of this free country, many were united under the cruelty of Capatilism. Who cares that detailed Lithuanian customs were not included? That was not Sinclairs purpose. I was practicly converted to Socialism after I finished it!
