Snapshot

You stand there
on the hiking bridge,
surrounded by your family;
wife and three children.

Does this one snapshot
in time capture
your outlook on life?

Huddled as one family unit
hugging each other
everyone, smiling at the lens,
except you.

Defined into this
family role you stand there
as if a stranger to this concept
of husband and father.

The blackness of your cap
shades your faceless
expression.
You squeeze
your son to your side.

When I knew you
your bellows,
like a jackass' bray
would blow flocks of birds out of trees.
.
What has life
done to you?
Why can't I see
your crooked teeth?
It breaks my heart
to see you dead inside.

It's enthralling and beautiful. I really love this. It's delicately and exquisitely crafted.

Thank you for your encouragement. It makes me want to go back and write more bad poetry. Hahaha!

Really, you write exquisitely and beautifully. Do write more so that we can enjoy more different life stories and beautiful poems of course.
