With a four week shutdown imposed in England as from today, I am determined not to let this opportunity of isolation go to waste.

Thus, aside from cold calls; invariably from Mumbai call centres by individuals of questionable integrity,* more suited to employment as dobi wallahs in unsavoury neighbourhoods; I have the freedom to read, research and write.

All I have to do is impose that discipline for four hours a day, and as Hemingway once said, " sweat blood."

How are the rest of you Lit Netters facing similiar circumstances ?

Calls from Mumbay? Seems some detective is on your heels.

It´s six months now that I go out only when it is strictly necessary. Luckily I can work from home, though there haven´t been many translation assignments of late.

Numbers have gone down since September, but there is still a plateau of about 500 (it was double that number) And one has to be watchful of what is happening in Europe.

It´s a time to do those things one usually has n´t time to do.

Hi Danik. We have over 47,000 deaths now, but just checked Brazil 160,000!!!! Don't know how you managed 6 months cooped up. We had an initial 3 months, then relaxation, now back into a 1 month lock down. Hang in there.

Hello folks, I haven't been on in ages; but after 8 months of Covid shutdowns, I am beginning to search my old haunts and so glad to see that some of my old friends are still coming and there are lots of new folks as well. Here in Florida, we haven't done much, I order in all my groceries and only go to the most necessary appointments, even our doctors are doing online. I don't remember the last death tolls here; but it is pretty overwhelming

Howdy SM ! I don't recall crossing paths before... but perhaps (I'm a fellow 2009'er with a short memory); glad to "see" you.

Covid in my county, El Dorado California, has still only claimed four lives... we've been very fortunate, but laxities are increasing and I'm afraid the holidays will prove quite dear. I have had relatives and friends who have been sickened in other locations, with only one possible death amongst them: he being quite elderly and suffering from emphysema (firefighter).
