rose high over the horizon
to blast light and uv and heat
over the ramshackle detritus
cleansing the landscape of
the bugs worms and germs
remaining from yesterday
to make way for a new future
long shadows grow shorter
as the radiation zaps deep
into the cracks and slowly
begins to break it all down
the concrete will crumble
the roads will buckle to dust
and the weeds
push through
