i tink that you are right. i also hate how Dinsney makes everything so simple and sweet. The charcters in the book are so much more complex than that. Even though most people hate the character Claude Frollo and his actions, i pity him and i disliked the way Dinsey made him look. In my mind there really is no "bad characters" in this book, only people with bad judjement. Phebous is not in love with Esmeralda, but he gets her love, Quasimodo is in love with her, but she doesn't love him becasue he is deformed, and Frollo is in love with her, but she doesn't love him because he looks old and because she thinks that he killed Phebous.

Just finished reading this book tonight..I admit I had to look up several words in the dictionary and I skipped over the history stuff..It was still wonderful..I love tragic characters and Quasimodo is one of the great tragic characters..I too watch the Disney movie which not many enjoyed and liked it..but the book of course as always it the better..and I was amazed by how Disney sugar coated things..but I guess they could not really have made the movie too true to the book..people were already shocked by the Claude Frodo song in it..<br>For people that found it long and boring..to read such a book you already have to go into it with a love of the characters..and have conviction to see it through..Anyway later :)
