The book is enthralling and kept my eyes glued to every page. I didn't think it was interesting when I saw the title, and I never knew how I would soon like it! Through Polly's cool manner and Tom' many mischiefs, I give this book 5 stars! You'd never know what to expect. It may not be some thriller or adventure novel, but hey- it's still a book!

This book is really great. It's one of my favourites from LMA. And I loved Polly so much. She was such a sweet, lovable, big-hearted young girl, full of light and sunshine. She was like an angel to me. So sweet, so cute, so warm and innocent… I would love to have her positive outlook on life and never give-up attitude.

I used to be annoyed by her "perfection", but after reading books with even more flawless heroines, I just learnt to appreciate Polly as her own person. She's a brilliant, well-rounded character.

I just read this book again after several years. I have my aunts copy and it is falling apart. I was surprised at all the parts I missed when I read it as a child. I'm talking about the "working girl" comments. LMA was certainly a feminist and concerned with workers rights. It made me want to go back and read some other books. Actually, it made me find the "lost" stories that were printed about 10 years ago. She is timeless. It's a shame there wasn't a sequel to this book.
