i disagree with the anonymous person who said this book is for seventh and eighth graders. Seventh and eight graders would doubtless enjoy this book but i dont think they would understand and pick up on alot of the satire. They wouldn't understand the irony in that although it was classic 1800's style to own slaves and think of them as below human beings, the only person in the book who shows morals and the attributes of an all around noble and warm person is the slave. i also had to read this book for english class and until i started to think rather than just mindlessly reading the words, i believed it to be for the inadvanced reader.
