I completely disagree with you! The book is definitely not childish. Twain uses simple language and slang in order to represent realism, which he is very well known for. The book is AP caliber. It contains a lot of satire and is a picaresque story. There is definitely a lot to learn. I don't think young kids would ever understand the meaning of the story. Huck is going through the process of maturing and he is torn between society and his own individual fellings. He finally does what he believes is right and does not turn in his good friend him, who is a slave. As for the language, Mark Twain is not racist! He uses the "n" word for realism, and Twain actually had many friends that were black.

SLAKER,
Well I personally think that you need to be put back in 7th or 8th grade because you have not learned correct grammer. Reading books like this may increase your brain which would be a plus for society. The world would be better off without people like you. Maybe if you would have read the entire book the you would have enjoyed it.
SOCIETY

You are so wrong! This book is a good book and I enjoyed reading it! There are so many things that Huck feels that help us in every day life. There are a ton of satires and ironies. I personally think that you should read the whole book because you just can't judge a book by it's first 13 chapters! It gets a lot better as it gones on!

I thought the book sucked!!!! I had t oread it in English class and i only read 13 chapters. I am currently a junior and i think the book is for 7 and 8 graders to read. Maybe if i was a younger kid then i would have liked it. I also kinda disagrre with what i just said because the language the book uses it not appropraite for that age of children. They are not mature enough for that.
