This book is the best written piece of literature I have ever read. I bought it at a store thinking it would be the same as any other classic. I had no idea what I was getting myself involved with. Our teacher made us create a journal out of all the books we read over the course of the year. That meant, of course we'd have to record our thoughts and feelings. I loved sharing my opinions of Charlotte Bronte's writing. Many thought that I was indeed insane while I was reading it. What else could you expect from a 12 year old ( I am 12 by the way).
Jane is a true heroin. I loved her and pitied her from the beginning, and through the course of the novel, I respected her independance even more. Mr. Rochester is definitely entrancing with his frank but intelligent comments and his will to make Jane love him as he loves her. Helen is an important character, though her appearance may seem short, she has a great effect on Jane throughout the novel.
I suggest you read the book before viewing the movie because you won't miss anything important. There are so many parts missing in the movie (especially the gypsy seen). "Jane Eyre" will surely capture your heart and make you re-read it hundreds of times. Good luck trying to decipher the french. I, knowing enough french to get by, was able to read it, with my mom's help sometimes. Write down the more difficult new words. I have, and I plan to use some of the new adjectives in grade 7 this year.
