I think that this novel is the earliest femminist novel. Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane as a women who fought for her equality and is an emplary independant women. She did not marry Mr. Rochester because they were not equal, later when she proved to herself that she was independant (living at the Moore house with out him, and financially), and she was his equal
