characture drawing inspired by Murder at the Abbey Theatre
can anyone spot the famous people in this picture?
Not really, but I love this one. The humor of it made me laugh right away. Hey, Niamh, maybe you are a born cartoonist. This is very good, I think. I like the way some tilt and the faces are a scream. Some do look a bit familar. I notice one lady seems to be repeated - so who is she? She had big brown hair. Is that Margaret Thacker? hahaha
Its supposed to be a stuck up actress from the time of the Playboy Riots. Think her name was Thomasina. There are a few literary and historical irish figures in there. Most of what you see is a copy of the original book cover for Murder At the Abbey Theatre, but a few of them i created myself, adopting the style of the original cartoonist. My own Cartoon style is rather crude, but i think it got a slight influence from this. the ones i created in the picture are J.M.Synge, Willie Fay (both forground with black hair) next row back, Oscar Wilde (grey hair) and the row behind that there are Frank Fay, Douglas Hyde, Michael Collins and i cant think of who the woman was again. Something to do with Suffregettes! They are all mine. The others W.B.Yeats and Lady Gregory where from the book cover.
