I was rummaging through my old pictures and happened to find this one: Stockholm Marathon 1984, and yes, it really is (or rather was) me in the picture :-)
great picture of you!!!
Thanks... I also just realized that this was half my life ago: I was 24 at the time.
Wow, you look fit there! Good for you running a marathon. My son, Sean, sometimes runs those. How many laps or miles did you run? I see a little bit of hair there: both facial and head. Were you a red-head?
Yes, I was pretty fit back then... Today I don't run at all (my knees disapprove if I try it), but I stay in reasonable shape by tormenting my bike all the time: Apart from riding my MTB in the woods, I use it to transport my bottom to work at least four days out of five, all year round. That picture was taken at the finish line of the 1984 Stockholm Marathon, which is a full 26 mile race. As for the hair colour, I think the picture is lying a bit. I never was a red-head. The beard fell when I met my wife, who was not particularly fond of it. /Claes
Wow, you ran a marathon Claes? I'm really impressed. Five miles (about 8 km) is the farthest I've ever gone. I was always hesitant to do long distant running because of the wear and tear on the bones. I like the beard. It makes you look like a real viking.
As a matter of fact, I ran a number of marathons and other races. I took up running when I was recovering from a severe whiplash injury that forced me to quit weight lifting. You can still see some traces of iron pumping in the picture, but I used to weigh about 20Lbs more than I do in this shot, and had no problems busting the 300 lbs barrier in the bench press. But alas, that was loooong ago. /Claes
Wow, 300 pounds bench press. That is impressive. My most was 225 lbs. and that was just a single press. But I was a skinny teenager at the time. Yes, and that as sooo long ago for me too.
Why are wives not fond of beards on their husbands? I grew one once and she hated it.
cool pic, Claes.
I'm happy that you don't have beard any more. I do not want a dad with a beard. It says 9266 on your shirt, I didn't know you were that old hehe.
