Weisman Art Museum on the U of M campus
the outside was much more impressive then the collection it housed. I love this photo, it's my wallpaper.
The contents really were disappointing and even the building itself was lack luster. I was expecting all these high, odd shaped ceilings, odd corners and angles and it was just a regular old building. The view from the little decks was nice though. Remember that weird inside-out/backwards books? And the one with the cow manure on it? That was art. I can't believe we didn't get any pictures of the Russian Art Museum, I'm still really upset about that, what were we thinking? I think we were still basking in each other's presence, we weren't worried with silly things like pictures.
they did have that fabulous old apt building with the dog barking when you lean your head up to the door? that was a strange sensation. very cool, actually.
That was cool and very original, I'd never seen anything like that before. It was interesting to see the similarities between the Soviet Realist art in the Russian Museam and the New Deal art at the Weisman, they were pretty much exactly the same. The only difference is that the Soviet artists had to paint that way and the Americans chose to.
