Had to read this for English. The story starts off a bit slow, and it is quite short, but contains aspects and elements which, presented to us by H. G. Wells in 1896, have relevence to us now, a century later.
The main focus is the effect and consequences of man's meddling with mature, and that we may meet the same, sticky end as the Doctor did (sorry about the spoiler!).
Issues today such as the stem cell debate and cloning are similar to the vivisection Moreau uses on his subjects, and the book's moral shows that man clearly should avoid altering nature as little as possible.
