im a big shakespeare fan but im currently struggling with analysing and understanding his comedy "the taming of the shrew". anyone with an idea on how i should analyse kate's speech to emphasize my idea that shakespeare was comveying the chauvinistic and gender based vilence experienced by women of his time. HELP!!!!
This is a tough one because in the text, Kate is beaten. She very much supports being subjugated to Petruchio. She embraces it with happiness. There is no violence toward women in the play. Petruchio's servants get the knock, but Kate only gets psychological abuse. I'm afraid there's not much, maybe nothing to support your premise.
