    Alas, it's no first.

    Here's the one I want.
Go to work, get married, have some kids, pay your taxes, pay your bills, watch your tv, follow fashion, act normal, obey the law and repeat after me: "I am free."

There is foxing on the outside of that book, whihc means there is probably alot more onthe inside, add to that fact its age makes it an acid paper risk ? Your better off with a new copy honestly.

well no, ive actually read this book and there is no other "foxing" anywhere, every page is perfectly legible...and the pages far from brittle.

it was published in 1949...for sure......and why would it be better to buy a new copy? does a 60 year old copy hold no value over one made in 2009? honest questions, sarcasm aside. do you think this copy is word for word the exact same as one published in 2009? .

Unfortunately, unless it's a first edition, no.

Should be identical, right down to punctuation, never mind the words.

All non-bootleg copies of 1984 are exactly the same.
