    come on, read my post, sienfeld to wilde

    common guys, lets get moving on this. i only have a 2 days. how are my ideas? have any others which I can cite from you?

    I think your ideas sound great, and that you should go ahead and do this presentation. I like your idea of aestheticism being similar to "a show about nothing," although of course for Wilde, beauty was important. It was not "nothing." There is a sense of sheer play about this play, though...it's all just beautiful words that dance around delightfully but don't harm anyone.

    You know what might be interesting? To look at the last Seinfeld episode...where they end up in jail...and contrast it with what happened to Wilde right after this play came out. The jail episode struck such a harsh note...and Wilde's own fate makes the serious aspects of his play, the satirical digs at respectibility, seem a lot less fluffy.
