The reason Moll Flanders ends up prosperous in the end is because she repented well in New Gate. Daniel DeFoe showed us how well living a bad life we could accomplish nothing and would only end up in worst places but by repenting and throwing ourselves to god's mercy we can become rich. Funnily enough though, Defoe leaves no room for her to show true repentance, because her morals are never again tested, since she is put into the lap of luxury
