Of all the series I have ever read, the Anne books are definitely the very best.

I am no longer a teenager but I was fifteen years old when I first read the story of Anne. The story captivated me and I was consumed with a desire to learn more about Anne's creator, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Only recently have I obtained her journals and though "Maud" denied it at times, it is easy to see that she was, in her heart, Anne. I think Anne is Maud's life as Maud wished it to be. Maud Montgomery was a gifted writer and a complex person. Under the sunny surface of her stories one can find the fragments of her own pain. But more than this the stories Maud wrote are a celebration of life. Every sensitive, life-loving girl must have a little Anne in her soul. I think Maud sensed this in some way with that amazing ability she had to understand people. I wish this site would add her journals as well as "The Blue Castle"
