Let me guess, this was your first Jane Austen novel. You either like her or you don't.

Persuasion is infuriatingly boring to the extent that reading it becomes painstaking. Its so horribly uneventful that the ironic tone (which becomes increasingly annoying), the social commentary and the sentimentality do little to render this novel anything more than uninteresting for me. I don't expect explosions and high-octane car chases from a novel but I'd like to read something to excite me just a wee bit. Its too descriptive about things that are really boring, even when she's ironic and "comical" about it. I really don't like it (as if you couldn't tell).
