You think it was boring because you don't get it! The book is a tightly bound and changing novel. In the beginning, Henry does feel lonely in his brigade, but after the first battle is over Crane delivers an amazing novel. The struggle between being a hero or a coward keeps the book alive even though he may not be in battle. By the way, maybe you think the end was horrible because you didn't get that either. Crane's whole point in having the brigade cross back over the river is he believes that war means nothing. "War, huah, what is it good for? Absolutely...Nothing! Say it again ya'll". That's the main theme in the novel. Maybe you should try understanding a book before bashing a masterpiece.
