I too have read several different versions on the Illiad and the Odyssey, being of Greek origin myself, was brought up on them. However I have found Samuel Butler's version very disconcerting especially with the transferance of Greek names to Romans. The Romans copied most of the Greek regilion to their own. This is a Greek work, please translators, be aware of this. We wouldn't like the gods names to be of Egyptian counterparts so please don't do it with the Romans!
