problem with topic for an essay

I am to write an essay on chosen topic from English literature. I may write about anything I want from Anglo-Saxon literature to 18th century. The problem is that I have no idea what to choose.

That is why I am asking you for help. I don't expect you to write it for me.
I would rather you to give me some suggestions or ideas for this essay. I feel totally confused with making up a topic. I would like to have something creative.

For example I could write some comparative essay.
I am thinking of Shakespeare- maybe something about his plays and reformations in the theatre or about new type of character in his plays( characters who have free will) or something connected with dark human nature shown in Doctor Faustus by Marlow. However I need a good topic.

If you could advise me something, I would be really grateful. I'm open to other suggestions and various topics.

To what extent can King Lear be said to follow the Bible in its presentation of resurrection?

I would suggest the many versions of King Arthur, I wrote a paper on that once. You could start with the version by Mallory and work your way into the others.

She might have been Aphra Benn.

Which, in turn, might lead to a theme - portrayals of slavery in literature from * to *.
    Voices mysterious far and near,
Sound of the wind and sound of the sea,
Are calling and whispering in my ear,
    Whifflingpin! Why stayest thou here?
