    Nothing gold can stay

    Nature's first green is gold
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf's a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.

I was just thinking about this book I read aaaaaaggges ago called The Outsiders. Anyone read it?

Do they go around stabbing each other with switchblades?

Does one of them go to a hospital and his friends bring him a switchblade, which he places under his pillow?

I don't want to put in spoilers. A couple go to hospital, but I don't remember anything about a switchblade. you read it or not?

I think so. Long long ago...when dirt was okay to eat, and tasted good.

Yeah, I read it when I was a kid too. (guessing that's what you mean. I was still to old to eat dirt though.) Still, pretty good book.

You are never to old to eat dirt.

I guess it is one of those, 'open minded' things.

well, I was never young enough to eat dirt either. It's a closed minded thing.

Your todo list must be very long.

Where is that poem you started with from? I know I've read it, but it slips away from me. I've never ate dirt either (purposely). My to do list is very long. Eating dirt isn't on it.

Now there's a blast from the past - I mean both the poem and The Outsiders.

The poem is by Robert Frost called (funnily enough) "Nothing Gold Can Stay".

You people don't know what you're missing. Oh well, more for me.

It's sort of a sad poem, don't you think?
