My Day With Henry David Thoreau

I dug out this old, shortened version of a college essay I wrote some years back. I recall the question being something like, "Discuss a person who greatly inspired you, somebody you could point to when you're older and still feel the way you did when you were introduced to him/her..." I titled it, "My Day with Henry D. Thoreau." Naive, but true in spirit. Enjoy. :-)

"He was nauseous with regret when he saw her face again, and when, as of yore, he pleaded and begged at her knees for the joy of her being. She understood Neal; she stroked his hair; she knew he was mad."
