    Best Scene in a Movie

My favourite scene is Jack Nicholson's Diner Scene in "Five Easy Pieces". This movie could be Nicholson's best, although it was no box office blockbuster. There is another scene with his father which reveals why he became successful. The scene is available on youtube.

    What your favourite scene?

This film is so great that it leaves practically everything else, except for a handful of rare examples, as pathetic also rans. I had the privilege of meeting Joseph Cotton briefly at the National Film theatre in London; his performance in this scene reflects the mastery of the greatest film ever made even though the quality of the video extract is far from perfect.

Those are all really, really good picks. I was expecting more foreign film, subtitles, artsy-fartsy mumbo-jumbo (especially from one in particular ).

Here're two more that come to my mind, both from brilliant films that came out the same year:

No Country for Old Men -- The coin toss scene. Seriously one of the tensest scenes ever.

There Will Be Blood -- The baptism scene. It's just awesome, pure and simple.

I think Fosse choreographed and directed a number of the best scenes from musical films ever made.

Excellent pick. I love that scene, the coin toss. So much tension through superb acting.

    Foreign films.

I will pick one from each each side of me -Spanish Father and Italian Mother, plus they are both good films.

Che. Idealista, pero inteligente. A trailer

And Cinema Paridiso (yea I know a bit soppy, but damn good).
