Wink Green green grass of home

When I open wide my eyes to look for my old hometown,
it seems as far as the farthest star in a night sky,
and in a blink of an eye, it's gone.

    When I close my eyes,
it's right in front of me, in the mind's eye,
as beautiful as a rural tapestry,
with boys running with the wind in a field,
girls playing with water by a brook!

    One day
when I eventually close my eyes
and never wake up, I wonder
whether my green green grass of home will still exist
    in this fantastic universe.

This is a masterpiece - the way you describe how we can so easily close our eyes and escape to places we love the best.
And I believe that when you do close your eyes for that final sleep whatever wonderful image you conjure becomes everlasting.

Great poem! Like Wordsworth images seem to flash upon your mental screen. The green grass also reminds me of the house where I lived in my childhood. Wish you the best in this world and ever after.

Thanks, Hillwalker, for the kind remarks!
It's only another scribbling from a greenhorned apprentice!
I've just practiced writing so-called poetry for about three months,
and I'm still in the learning from you!

Thanks, AG, for the nice feedback!

I wonder why you mentioned Wordsworth images!
I think I'm like him, an ordinary person!

Another poem where you can close your eyes and feel the summer breeze flowing through your hair, the tweeting of birds and the feel of the soft grass beneath your feet
When you're close to tears remember,
    someday, it'll all be over...

    Thanks, my dear Skia,
YOur nice words are nicer than the summer breeze flowing through my windows!
