I had been reading Emily Dickinson's (and other poets) poem as part of my school work. They are full of metaphor allegory; and I like them once I get to know the meaning of the poems. I think her poems are thought provoking.
As part of my work, I have to chose one poem that is a good representation of the poet's entire literary career. I am thinking of chosing Emily Dickinson as the poet. But, I need help in identifying the one poem that best represents her career. Any suggestions? Thanks, |

Difficult to decide, but, in essence, this comes down to choosing a favorite poem by Dickinson that I feel contains the ultimate talent and uniquity of her as a poet - very difficult to decide. Perhaps not my ultimate decision, but I would place a lot of consideration upon this poem, which contains her common themes of death, loneliness, and some sort of progression, a dark mood, and metaphors galore:
