first person

looking at the forum stats , looks like great expectations
is the most popular of all his novels.

could this be because the novel is written in first person ?

I think it may be that it is the Dickens novel most often chosen for english/literature classes, with 'A Tale of Two Cities' perhaps too violent or suggestive, and 'David Copperfield' (also in 1st person, also a growing, coming-of-age, learning theme) being rather long.

I agree...I think Great Expectations is chosen for high school classes a lot. However, I don't think I was ever required to read any Dickens in school.
