Man & Superman (Shaw)-Why did Tanner have such an abrupt change of heart in the end?

I didn't see his character transfiguring throughout the play and was shocked when he suddenly decided to marry Ann. It seemed completely out of character and I did not really understand it.

Jack Tanner

I don't think Tanner actually changes. By the time we meet them, Jack and Ann have known each other for many years. He admits he is in love with her early in the play. He doesn't want to get married, and she traps him into it with her master manipulation. He basically just gives up.
