Has anyone read Beowulf?

Has anyone read Beowulf recently? I need to write some diary entries, where I have to in character of Beowulf, but I want to be sure it sounds like him. If someone replies to see it then I'll post it.

I read it in college many, many moons ago. Several things stood out:

* There was a scene in which the Queen served the King's servants by giving them beer! What an incredibly chauvinistic society!!

* Beowulf gave a speech in which he engaged in false modesty by saying something like ''I'm no hero but I shall do this (attack Grendel's cave) because ... ''

* Grendel was bad, but this mother was worse.

Perhaps I should read it again!

Well, I'd answer, because Beowulf is one of my favorites, but it sounds as though you haven't read it yourself. So.....
