Gitanjali- A poet's prayer
Reading Tagore's Gitanjali was an amazing experience. No wonder Tagore won the Nobel Prize for it! Wrote an essay on it a month ago. Kindly read the same and communicate your feedback. Please share your views on Tagore as well.

tagore revisited
i don't agree with your implication that Tagore rightfully got the nobel for gitanjali.i think he wrote far better works for which he got hardly any appraisal.
a reason why he got a nobel prize at all was that he was known in the european world through yeats's translation. there were other masters of bengali fiction like bibhutibhushan bannerjee and tarashankar bannerjee who hardly got any recognition for their extraordinary works outside their own counry. |
