not so good for me

Well, I picked this book for one strong reason - besides its being short -; I picked Altar of the Dead because it happens to be regarded as one of his finest by critics. I completely disagree with such praise. However, I am just a new Henry James reader. Perhaps - letīs hope not - I will find the rest of his books so dull as to point out TAOTD as his best in comparison. Or, what is more likely, those critics that cherish the book never really cared to survey any other story of his - which I am now determined to do in order to provide a true sketch of this author and his work.
