    fascination of abdomination

To me this means that evil and destructive things appeal to us. This means that we enjoy to see bad events happen. For example some people are more interested in nascar for the crashes rather than the actual race

"the fascination of the abomination"... I think it means people's interest is sparked from tragic events. In society today I think car accidents are a good example of peoples fascination with it. People always slow down to watch the accident. This interest in tragic events is also all over the news.

This means to me that people are very intrigued by destruction. For some reason people tend to be drawn to morbid or dark images.

    Post Heart of Darkness

My understanding to the quote of "Fascination of the abomination" is that terrible events draw a crowd. People are fascinated by accidents and terrible situations. Just look at the news! When you are on the Freeway and there is an accident, even if it is off the road there is always trafic becuase people slow down to see what has happened. People are fascinated, even mesmorized, by accidents. We are all guilty of this curious nature.

The fascination of the abomination..." What does this mean to you?

I think this qoute is extremely true. It seems to me that people are fascinated by accidents and in crime. Whenever a police man has closed an area off or is drawing attentioin to a situation the general public is curious in finding out what happened. This is proved through shows on t.v. such as law and order and even daily, when someone gets pulled over for a ticket.

    fascination

"Fascinaton of abomination" in Heart of Darkness shows how corrupt the continent has become and how its inhabitants do nothing to prevent or discourage such corruption. In fact, these people fuel the corruption in their fascination and obsessions with the abomination.

    Wink Heart of Darkness!!

" Fascination of abomination," could mean that people are interested in what is wrong. It could mean that some people could be attracted to evil or wrong doings.

"the fascination of abomination" i think is when people are attracted to things that are horific or bad. Like kate said i think it people are drawn to bad events so that they can see that they are not in them.

well the facination of abomination alludes to humanity's need to feel horrified. for example, why do people go see the freak show at the circus? why is it that the majority of all programs on t.v. are directed to the obscure nature of portraying various abominations? The simple fact is, that the facination of abomination appeals to all of us, because its out of the "norm". The sight of something out of the ordinary causes exitement in people. and people want to be exited. Hence the whole facination of abomination. and that is what i think about that

Webster's Dictionary defines abomination as "anything greatly disliked or abhorred", thus to have a "fascination with the abomination" is similar to staring at a car crash and wondering, nay hoping, that someone has died.

the fascination of abomination is the portrayal of the human fascination with evil. everyone is taught to strive for good so the fascination with evil develops because of the supression of things that are bad or wrong. i am intrigued by people that are manipulative and caniving just because it is interesting to me how they can contrive these sort of character traits. i think all people are like that but we are taught not to respond to things in that manner so its supressed and thats where the fascination comes from!
